November 24, 2012 - Christmas Shopping Season
Shopping is under way. My goal is to be done by mid-December. Today I went with the Girl and the Baby to Michaels and Walmart. I am attempting to knit things for Christmas gifts this year. I can`t say what I am knitting because the person who is getting the gift might be reading this blog! I will definately post pictures after Christmas. I just hope the items turn out nice enough to give away. I am not a little kid anymore so I can`t get away with giving less than perfect home-made gifts!
I am not sure why I have three photos today, maybe because I couldn`t pick my favourite. I guess it makes up for Wednesday when I didn`t have any!
November 23, 2012 - Boy Goes to Camp
The Boy is going to camp tonight. He is so excited. We packed up all his stuff last night and got everything ready to go. He will be staying in a lodge of some sort and they have a jam packed day planned for Saturday. We are going to pick him up late on Saturday so that we can go to the Husband's work children's I am not sure what I will do on Saturday with the other kids, probably start some Christmas shopping.....
I love the photo on the right, he is looking at the Christmas lights on the house for the first time.
November 22, 2012 - Walking & Falling
So the Baby has been walking so much more lately. The other evening he even walked at a quick pace (might have been classified as a toddler jog). The daycare ladies are telling me that he is walking more when he is there too. This is a good thing! However a mobile baby falls down more. Last night while he was walking around being guided by the Girl, he somehow fell and bonked his noggin on the Husband's dresser. Poor thing now has a pretty bruise on his forhead.
Of course we are planning Santa photos on Sunday, so hopefully we can get his good side! I made sure to tell the daycare that the bump happened at home in case they thought he did it there. To much paperwork!
I love today`s photo, he is sitting on the kitchen floor in his signature post, playing on the Husband`s old Blackberry. I think he will be texting by the time he is two! But not on a Blackberry, if I have anything to do with it!!

November 21, 2012 - Wish Lists
Tonight we took the Baby and the Girl over to Toys 'r Us to make their Christmas Wish lists. I had most of the Baby's list done on line, but I wanted the Girl to pick out some things that she would like. As we were leaving the store the Girl asked if we were going to pay for everything! I laughed and had to explain what the "wish list" was about (again!).
The Boy still needs to finish his, but he can do it on his own on line. He is getting pretty efficient at using the computer. Funny, in today's computer age, he is just mastering it now at eight years old. I guess we don't let the kids spend that much time on the desk top computer. Is that a good thing?? Especially the Baby...he doesn't even watch TV!!
In the insanity that is my weekdays, I do not have a photo of the Baby today...I am sad about it! I only missed a few days this entire year!

November 20, 2012 - 325 Posts!
Today marks 325 posts. I am so close to accomplishing my goal for the year. I hardly ever accomplish goals, so this is a biggie. I have (almost) a photo a day for the Baby (who I think next year should be called The Toddler!). I also tried to write something interesting each day. Often I was really grasping at straws for ideas. I am still thinking hard about my 2013 plan. I want to keep this up because it is fun, and writing is great for my brain. I am not willing to do something as time consuming as a post a day though, it will need to be some other project...idea's are welcome!
November 19, 2012 - Sparks Party
Today the Girl's Sparks group was having their enrollment night. Even though my daughter was not being enrolled, they did have a job for her to do, so we all went. The Husband was running late because of work, so I headed over to the school with the three kids. The Boy brought his books, so he happily read. The Baby did not want to be there, and he made sure everyone knew it. When the Husband arrived, he basically took the Baby home and put him to bed.
I wish the Baby wasn't so tired at the end of the day, because I miss him. I really feel like all he does at home is eat and sleep...wait a minute, that's basically what I do! I would be happy if he would go to bed at the same time as the other kids. But he is so cranky by 6pm or 6:30pm that we have to take him to bed. Some nights I can't even eat dinner because he is so cranky. I am hoping he will grow out of this!
Unfortunately, I did not get a photo of Baby today. However I am posting a photo of the Girl's Sparks sash with her one year pin on it. Today we handed in the one year pin for her second year pin. She was so happy to get it!

November 18, 2012 - Party in Barrie
Today we went to my cousin's house. She was having a party for her girls. The oldest one is 5 and she and my daughter are inseperable at family functions. Her younger one turned 2, and she is so adorable. The kids had fun, and we enjoyed seeing my cousin and her husband.
By the time we got home it was nearly bed time for the kids and the Baby was definately exhausted! I feel like Saturday and Sunday are no longer relaxing for me, we spend the entire weekend running around, when all I want to do is hang out at home and play with the kids. Perhaps one day!

November 17, 2012 - Shopping with the Girl
The Girl is going to be a flower girl at her cousins wedding in February. Today we went shopping for her dress. She had so much fun trying on the beautiful dresses. This is the one the Bride and the Girl picked out. Today was also the Brampton Santa Claus Parade. Brampton hosts one of the only night time parades in Ontario, and it is probably the biggest. It is a lot of fun, and it kind of kicks off the holdiay season!
November 16, 2012 - Baby is not better
Well last night the Baby was coughing horribly. He was so exhausted and the cough really seemed to hurt him. He woke up at 11 and had some milk, but only slept until 1:30am. I brought him into our bed and he tossed and turned for the rest of the night. We found some "natural" cough syrup that is safe to give one year olds, and have been giving that to him, I'm not sure how well it is working, his chest seems so congested. I really don't want to go back to the doctor's tonight since I am alone with the three kids and I would hate bringing them all with me!!
November 15, 2012 - Baby is better
Today was the first day that the Baby didn't have a fever. Finally!! After dinner we went to renew my health card, and get a replacement for the Baby since we lost his. The kids don't have school tomorrow so I tried not nagging them to get ready for bed. I gave them some instructions before I took the Baby to bed, and then waited to see what they would do. As I figured they didn't remember to do anything. About 1/2 hour after I asked them to take a shower, they came upstairs. Everything else I had to remind them repeatedly to do it. The Boy got 9/10 on his spelling test today and the Girl got perfect! I am proud of both of them, they are doing well with spelling this year!
November 14, 2012 - Groceries & Cubs
Today the Boy had Cubs and the rest of us went grocery shopping. The Baby was feeling better today, which is a good thing. He is still tired and coughs a lot at night, but I feel like he is on the road to being healthy.
November 13, 2012 - Tuesday's Homework night!
Tuesday night we have no activities so normally this is the night that we can dedicate the most amount of time to homework. I try to have them study for spelling everynight, but sometimes there just isn't enough time. I almost can't wait for the time when they will take ownership for their homework, and don't need my constant help. They seem to have a lot of homework this year. They have about 1/2 hour every night (15 minutes of reading and 15 minutes to study spelling), plus any thing else that is assigned or not finished in class. I find this alot for the Girl especially. I understand that they want the kids to read each night, it is a good habit to get into, but all the homework takes away from their play time and their snuggle time with me. I try to get them to do the homework when I am cleaning up from dinner or while I am cooking dinner. I feel like I don't see anyone in my house anymore unless it is the weekend:(
November 12, 2012 - You want my 1 year old to have what???

He survived the entire day at daycare without a fever until it was almost home time, the the fever went up to 100 degrees. They gave him tylenol. He was tired and wanted to go to bed early. We put him down at 7pm, the Boy wasn't feeling well either and he was in bed by 7:30pm. The Girl had sparks and was feeling fine, I managed to get her into bed by about 9pm. Then I am tired....
November 11, 2012 - Happy Birthday to the Boy
This morning I rushed out of the house with the Baby to take him to emergency. I got quickly through registration, triage and saw a nurse and doctor. I quickly got him swabbed, three doses of ventolin by mask and off to x-ray. I was hoping to make it home in time to go to the Boy's birthday party with the rest of my family. Things were looking good until the doctor disapeared and was gone for a couple of hours. There was a more serious patient needing his attention, so a bunch of patients were left waiting. Eventually he got back and confirmed that the Baby has bronchiolitis. He would have a puffer and he should see our family doctor in a few days.
We left the hospital and rushed over to the Boy's birthday party, late, but I made it. The Boy understood why I missed the beginning. He wasn't mad at me, which made me feel less guilty. The Baby slept through most of the party, he was tired after the ordeal at the hospital. The Boy had a great party, although only 8 of his 12 possible guests showed up. Next year I will invite way more kids!!
After the party, my parents came over to give the Boy his gifts. He had a great day and really loved all his presents.
The Baby's fever spiked in the evening, up to a scary 103.8 degrees. It was 0.3 degrees away from me trekking back to the emergency room.
November 10, 2012 - Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad
Today is my parents anniversary. They have been married for 39 years. Wow, next year will be the big party. I hope they enjoy their day. We took the Boy shopping for a birthday present. He ended up picking out electronic battleship and a microscope.
The Girl went to a birthday party for one of the girls in her class. It was her first party at The Putting Edge. She had fun, and came home with a bunch of little toys that she "bought" with her game tickets.
November 9, 2012 - Friday...how I love you:)
When I was on maternity leave I liked Friday's, but now that I am back at work...I love them again. This weekend the husband is off, so I might actually get some work done.
Saturday we are going to take the Boy birthday present shopping while the Girl is at a school friend's birthday party at Putting Edge. On Sunday the Boy has his birthday party at the Real Canadian Superstore. They are doing an Italian Party. They will be making pasta sauce, garlic bread, salad and decorating cakes. He is looking forward to it.

November 8, 2012 - Frosty Car
Today we took the kids to their school book fair. We also got to meet the Boy's new teacher. Now before you wonder why we are meeting a new teacher in November....his old teacher just left for maternity leave, so he has a new teacher. She is very young. I find that a great thing and a scary thing. First of all it is scary because she isn't as experienced as some of the other teachers. But it is great because she has so many fresh ideas which will make the classroom a great place for the kids. The Boy seems to like her, and she thinks he is a great kid....What? My Kid?? Apparently he helped another kid at school yesterday walk away from a situation where there might have been a fight...What? My Kid? Exibiting self control?
I love the two photos today, the Baby looks so different in each one. Tomorrow is Friday...I am glad!
November 7, 2012 - Our Busy November just got Busier!
It turns out that the only kid that likes to play in the basement is the Baby. That would figure, because it's probably the most unsafe place for him to play. It's full of the kids teeny tiny toys. He was having a ball checking out the trains. Perhaps I need to bring him downstairs a little more. I am sure I could make it a little more baby proof.....We just found out that on top of all our activities this month, the Boy has a camp. Unfortunately he won't be able to stay for both nights because we have the Husband's work children's Christmas Party on the Sunday morning. We will just pick him up after dinner. What will he really miss?? Sleeping and breakfast?
November 6, 2012 - US Election Day
Today is the US election, it is big news in the states and it seems to be big news here. I will lie if I say I'm not interested, but it seems that Canadians are more interested in American politics then what's going on right here in Canada or Ontario. Tonight the Girl had her Sparks meeting at a different location, and of course the Husband was working. So I had to shlep across the city twice with three kids in tow. Plus today there was some frost on my car, and the puddles on the roof of the building at work were frozen. Why do we have to have winter. I LOVE summer!I just realized that many of Baby's photos since I went back to work are all in his high chair! If it seems like all he does at home is eat, you would be pretty much right!! The time at home is so short and I find all I am doing is cooking, nagging, and sleeping.....is this what life is all about?
November 4, 2012 - Sunday, already?
Today was Sunday, we visited my Mother-in-Law, two of my Sister-in-Laws, my Niece and Brother-in-Law. It is always nice to see everyone. With the time change the kids were out of sorts all day. The Baby woke too early and wouldn't (or couldn't) get back to sleep. The Baby took many steps today, it was so much fun to see. He would forget that he wasn't holding on to something, and just walk away from it. He would take about 2 or 4 steps at a time before falling onto his behind. By the time we got home it was so dark (and 5:00pm) that everyone was ready for bed. We managed to keep the Baby up until 7:30pm so that he wouldn't wake up at 4am! We picked up pizza for dinner and tried to get everyone in bed at a reasonable time. The kids were again missbehaving while we were out, so the Husband made them write lines: "I will listen to my parents". The Girl wrote a whole page of them, while crying. The Boy had to write two pages and fell asleep at his desk with about 10 lines to go. I hope it works and they start listening to us. I won't hold my breath though!
November 3, 2012 - Saturday
Today was Saturday. We didn't have anything planned. Actually this weekend is the only weekend in November that isn't already occupied by events....ahhh the Christmas season is already upon us!
I figured we'd just stay home, the kids can play and I will try to get some laundry and cleaning done. I discovered that my children do not like being home! They were fighting and whining and bored within 10 minutes of me asking the to turn off the TV. They received tonnes of great toys for their birthday. Seeing as most of our weekends are filled up, they haven't had much time to play with everything. But to my surprise on Saturday...they were bored! Oh, how I hate that word. Bored. They have no reason to be bored! When given the chance to do something...they wanted to watch a movie. I said NO to that, they were asked to turn off the TV because they watch in the morning. Normally the Boy watches at 7am while everyone is sleeping, so around 9:30 or 10 I tell him to turn off the TV. He doesn't argue.
I decide that we should pop over to my parents for a short visit. Gets the kids out of the house and we all feel a little better. Of course it was a nice visit, and the Baby even took a few more steps! He's getting there, he will probably be walking efficiently within the next month.
After dinner, we went grocery shopping. 8pm on Saturday is a great time to buy groceries. There was no one in the store. I suppose all the other people must have a life, and that's why they aren't grocery shopping on Saturday night!! The kids for some reason were so hyper and they were running all over. I hate when they do that while we are out, because I really hate yelling at them in public. Fortunately the Husband doesn't mind yelling at them!

November 2, 2012 - Friday
Today was Friday! I really look forward to this day because I get to spend two whole days with the kids! This morning I got them up and out the door on time for once, mostly because the Baby woke up before 6:30am!
November 1, 2012 - A Day Off
Today I Took a vacation day. I needed it! I got some stuff tidied up and we started our Christmas shopping. It was weird being home without the kids, especially being away from the Baby.
The Baby went as a Tiger for Halloween. He went trick or treating at daycare, but didn't do the door-to-door part. If the weather had been nicer I might have taken him, but it has been so rainy, I thought he would enjoy being home and dry instead!

October 31, 2012 - Halloween
It was rainy today, what else is new! I took the kids trick or treating on our street. They had so much fun running from house to house. We also had the Girl's friend from down the street with us.
October 30, 2012 - Homework
Today I tried to work with the kids on their spelling words. This is the second year that the boy has been doing weekly spelling words, and he has figured it out. I believe he has received perfect scores on all his spelling tests this year! The Girl on the other hand is having difficulty at school. She gets really frustrated with the words and won't even try to say them. I'll ask her to sound out each letter and she will say the word super slowly, while correctly saying the letter sounds but over accentuating them. Then when she tries to say the word she guesses, and doesn't say the letters right.
October 29, 2012 - Sparks Halloween Party
Today was the Girl's party with her sparks group. She dressed as an angel and she looked beautiful. Today was also the peak of the superstorm that hit the eastern side of the continent. It was a category one hurricane when it came ashore in New Jersey. Even though New Jersey is so far away we still felt the effects of the storm here in the GTA. The storm was huge! The damage in the GTA was minor in comparison to the damage in Jersey and Manhattan. Here it was just rainy and crazy windy!
October 28, 2012 - Batallion Game
Today was Girl Guide day at the Brampton Batallion game. The Husband and I went to the game with just the Boy and the Girl. My parents watched the Baby. It was nice to spend some time with the older kids, where we didn't have to concentrate on the Baby. It was also nice to see hockey again since the NHL is on strike! Then we invited my parents to stay for dinner. I made pulled pork in the slow cooker and it was pretty good.
October 27, 2012 - PC cooking party
October 26, 2012 - TGIF
Today was Friday. The weekend is here! Work was pretty slow, I got to catch up on some other projects. I am looking forward to the Girls party tomorrow, it will be nice to see the other Moms from the school that I haven't seen since I went back to work. The Girl is very excited; she is going to wear one of her new outfits that she got fore her birthday! On Sunday we are going to the Battallion game for Girl Guide Day. It will be really nice to go with just the older kids, I asked my parents to watch the Baby. I will actually get to enjoy the game!!!
October 25, 2012 - The Day the Pool Came Down
Today the Husband took down the pool and sucked up 6 bags of leaves from the front. I'm thankful that he did all that hard work and I didn't have too. The baby slept through the night the last two nights, and it has been blissful for me:)
October 24, 2012 - Cubs- Halloween Party #1
October 23, 2012 - Husband on Holidays
This week the Husband is on holidays, he has some things to get caught up on around the house and he gets to spend the days kid free because the older kids have school and I am taking the baby to daycare. It has been nice so far because I haven't had to make dinner! It's is almost a vacation for me too!
October 22, 2012 - Happy Birthday Girl!

My baby princess is 6 today. I love her so much! She has the most amazing smile and her eyes light up when she is happy. She is very kind and giving, she will share anything with anyone because it makes the other person feel good. I am proud of her creativity and bubbly personality. She is struggling a little with grade one, but I know she will figure it out! As you can see, today was a hectic day and I neglected to take a photo of the Baby until he was asleep.
October 21, 2012 - Party!
Today we had the kids big birthday party at our house. Lots of planning and days of frantic cleaning and organizing, baking cakes and thinking up loot bag ideas, and the party is over in a few hours. The kids seemed to have fun although the Boy was feeling a little 'girled' out. His only male cousin wasn't there so he was surrounded by girls. He told me he played by himself all afternoon.
October 20, 2012 - No Boy Today
Today the Boy went to camp with the cubs. It was a one-day thing and he was gone from lunch time until bedtime. It was weird not having him around the house. The Girl missed him a lot even though he is normally pretty mean to her. When we went shopping there was no fighting and I found myself yelling less all day!
We got a lot of party preparations done today, which is easier when the Girl wants to help. When the Boy got home he was pumped and tired from his long day. Normally he can't remember what he did all day, but tonight he had lots to tell me. He even recited an entire story that he heard during the day. I am glad he had fun, but I wish he hadn't made his sister cry within moments of walking into the house. He saw her kinder egg toy and assumed that it was his. She cried and told him it was hers. He eventually gave it back, mumbling something about being sorry. Why is he so mean to her!?
