I hate shopping for clothes for myself.  I actually dread it.  Nothing I like fits, and usually I can't find anything I like.  It takes forever for me to find just one outfit.  I would much rather shop for the kids, and whenever I am out to get an article of clothing for myself, I usually come home with something for one of the kids.  Today was no exception.  But I kind of had a good reason why I had trouble.  There was nothing in the mall for nursing mothers.  I checked with the maternity store, and they don't carry anything (formal or semi formal) for non-pregnant nursing mothers.  Most of their clothing is for pregnant women that they can wear to nurse after they give birth.

So I decided I would search for a dress or blouse that had either a cross-over look or buttons, so that I could descreetly remove part of my top to nurse while I am at a wedding reception in a couple of weeks.  Well tried on a few dresses that had that "cross over/wrap" look, and with my nursing boobs they practically fall out, and it is not a look that I like.  There wasn't any dresses or blouses that had buttons at all, it was very disapointing.  Why hasn't someone targeted this audience?  Wouldn't a store like Sears, The Bay or even a higher end maternity store like Thyme, invest in products that women might wear for a year or more after their child is born?  Afterall we buy maternity wear that we use for about 6 monts only....Seems as though there is a missing market here!

I ended up buying  a skirt and an inexpensive shirt that I am going to modify to make it more accessible for nursing.  If anyone knows of a store where I can buy pretty (grown-up) nursing clothes that are not meant for pregnant women, please let me know!

March 1, 2012 - 5 months old today:)

Today the Baby is 5 months old. I can't believe how big he is getting.  In some ways time seems to be moving way too fast, and in other ways it seems like the Baby has always been here.  He is just so cuddly and happy.  I love waking up and seeing him fast asleep beside me.  I love when he smiles at random strangers.  I love it when the older kids make him laugh.  I also love how the Boy and the Girl take care of him, and help out around the house.  The Baby has so many people who love him and take care of him, and he is so lucky!

Today's photos show two different sides of Baby.  The top one is of him blowing raspberries.  He is a very talented raspberry blower!  They are often very juicy and anyone in close proximity may be in the wet zone!  The photo blow shows his more calm and content side.
Today we had dinner with my parents, it was nice.  I made pulled pork sandwiches.  We really like the pulled pork from M&M Meats.  I saute some mushrooms and onions, and add them to the meat on toasted rolls.  Then I put on some shredded mozzerella cheese, and pop it back into the oven to make the cheese all melty.

I think I am going to try to make my own pulled pork in the slow cooker, I found a pretty easy recipe, and best of all the slow cooker will do all the work!

February 29, 2012

Today was Wednesday.  The Boy has Beavers and I walk to and from the school 5 times!  It was a good day.  Today we woke to snow.  There hasn't been much this winter, so when it does snow the kids get excited.  I took the Boy to school this morning, and got covered in blowing wet snow.  He was excited because it was his teacher's birthday.  He was looking forward to her birthday since the beginning of the year.  We picked up a yummy chocolate covered caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolates to give as a gift.  It looked really good, and I should have picked up an extra one for me, because a girl's got to get her 8-10 fruits and vegetables per day, right?
