August 3, 2012 - New Fridge

So when you are young different things excite you. But when you are older one of the most exciting purchases you can make is new appliances. This week was a big one for our family. We got a new to us gas stove and I am now enjoying the magic of stove burners that actually work (and they work fast!). Today we had our bran new refridgerator delivered. I had never bought a new fridge and it was a pretty fun experience. The delivery guys had to remove our front door to get it into the house and they kept making comments regarding the size of it. They felt that it was too big for my kitchen. Is this really their place to make such comments? They deliver
appliances, they are not kitchen designers. In any case the fridge fits great and is large enough for my growing family. Our old fridge was a
22 cubic foot fridge and there was never enough room after we went shopping and definately not enough room for all the stuff to host a party.

The new fridge has external water and ice which excites the kids. Last night the Husband hooked up the water line so soon we will have ice too!

August 2, 2012 - A Day in Keswick and a Close Call!

Today we went to visit the kids cousins M, V and P.  We went to a splash pad in Keswick.  It was pretty cool, there was a park attached to the splash pad, so we were able to set up the blanket in a central area and watch them in the park and playing in the water.  It was a warm day, but not too sunny and the humidity wasn`t bad at all up north.  The kids love playing with their cousins and the Baby thinks his cousin V is amazing.

Tonight while I was making dinner the Boy came running downstairs crying!  I thought to myself: 'crap! did his last triops die?'  He said that the Baby knocked over the dish with his Triops in it!   I immediately began to hug the Boy as he was in crying histarically.  When the Husband came down, I asked him if he found it on the floor, because maybe it was still OK.  So the Husband and the Boy ran back upstairs to find the little guy.  They found him on a piece of wet paper, and the Husband carefully separated him from the paper and put him back into what was left of his water and carrots.  Then a miracle happened!  The Triops wasn't dead!  He was alive and swimming around his dish!!  I don't think any of us believed that he would still be alive after spending so much time outside of the water, perhaps he has horrible brain damage...but in anycase he was waving his 140 legs and swimming around the bowl, probably glad to be home.  If he is not severely brain damaged, I am sure he was wondering what happened, and was probably pretty scared to be so far from home (when you are 1/2 cm long, the floor is a long way from the top of the dresser).  So we learned another valuable lesson today, don't let the Baby crawl on the Boy's bed, because he will definately want to inadvertantly cause the most damage possible!

August 1, 2012 - Ten Months Old

So today marks the Baby's ten month birthday. He has done so much in the last month. First of all he is eating better, and sleeping better. It is really nice to get 6 hours of sleep. When I get up in the morning I feel like I have slept!!

He is also working on climbing. He climbs on the fireplace and stand on the concrete pad. Then he turns around and smiles at us! He is still very happy and smiles at everyone we meet.  He has this very cute smirky smile, and everytime he shows it to us, we have to smile back!

He love it when we hum to him. When he is sleepy we hum a song or a lullaby to him and he eventually goes to sleep.

I can't believe the summer is half over and the kids go back to school in a month. We have so many things to do one our bucket list, I feel like if we don't do most of them the kids will be disapointed! 
Yesterday we noticed that he is starting to 'accidentally' let go of things. At the Boys baseball game he let go of the stroller and was standing for a brief moment. This is how walking will begin. If I could make a prediction, I would say that he will be walking by 11 months old.

This morning while the Boy was feeding his remaining two Triops with the pipette, he accidentally sucked one of them back up into the pipette.  It was a horrible accident and he felt awful.  So now only one Triop remains.  But on the positive side, he fed it the adult food now, so he only needs to feed it twice a day and soon he'll be able to move it to the other dish

Tonight we went for a walk after dinner, the Boy wanted to try to ride his bike without training wheels.  He did better than I thought he would, he was even able to ride without our help for a few seconds.

After the walk the Boy's tooth fell out!  He'd been working on the tooth for weeks and it was really loose.  I kept telling him to wiggle it and twist it, but he wouldn't do it.  Finally when he was brushing his teeth it just fell out.  Yeah!  One more tooth we didn't have to have pulled by the dentist.  Now it's Dentist 6, the Boy 2.
