January 13, 2012 - My favourite thing!

Today's photo of the Baby (Day 13/366).  I am now 4% through the year's challenge.  The Baby has so many great expressions that it is hard to choose.

The rest of this blog is about my stroller, one of my favourite baby gear items!

There is a five year age difference between my second and third children.  Over five years a lot can happen.  We moved houses and donated a lot of outdated or well used baby equipment.  We were never completely sure if we were going to have a third child, and we figured we'd want to buy him or some new things.  We had also been blessed by many gifts and hand-me-downs from family and friends, so we didn't have to buy things like high chairs and baby furniture.

When preparing for the Baby's arrival, we knew that we needed to get some necessary items for him.  The first item we bought was a new stroller.  Being as I was going to be at home, and part of my day would be spent escorting the other two kids to and from school each day, I wanted a stroller that would manouver easily through the Canadian weather.  I also decided that having a bassenette attachment would be good for the Baby when he was very little, instead of putting him in the car seat all the time.   After a lot of internet searching and one trip to the Babytime show.  We decided on the Guzzie and Gus 042 stroller.

This stroller has been great so far, although I can't tell how it will work in snow yet, because we have been having an unseasonably green winter this year (not that I am really complaining!)   This stoller has large rear wheels and a tight turning radius.  With the bassenette attached, it is quite long and there isn't a lot of room to hang items over the handle bars (ie diaper bag, it only fits my purse).  The basket underneith is a good size, fits diaper bag with a little room left over.  The bassenette is easy to remove and install, and the car seat adaptor takes up very little room in the car.  The stroller frame is light and easy to open and close (once I figured it out).  This stroller fits in my Honda Civic's trunk. The only complaint that I have is that one of the rear air-filled tires had a slow leak requiring me to fill it up weekly.  A couple of times I forgot to check before going out, and had to seek out a place to fill it up.  (FYI - Sport Check has a service centre in the back that will do this for you if you ask nicely and Mr. Lube will also fill your stroller tire even if you don't get an oil change!).
I will update this once we get some snow and I am able to test out the big wheels!
