May 1, 2012

On Tuesday I prepared for the new family room window to be installed.  I am really excited to have a proper window in the room.  Right now it is a old sliding patio door that was sealed shut by the previous home owners.  The room gets really stuffy so it would be awesome if it could be opened.

Today is also the Baby's 7 month birthday.  I am so excited and sad at the same time.  The Baby can now stand holding onto a table or sofa, he is pretty steady on his feet.  He can sit and play for long periods of time and he is generally a pretty good baby.  He wants to be with me if I am in the same room, and he still doesn't sleep through the night.  He is nursing every 3 to 4 hours and is eating a variety of meats, vegetables and fruits. His favourite foods are sweet potatio, squash, apples and oatmeal cereal.  He smiles alot and his face lights up when he sees people he recognizes.  He knows his Daddy, the Girl and the Boy.  He also loves to see his Granny, GD and Vavo.  I am excited to take him on vacation later this month, but worried how he will do in the car for a long period of time.

April 30, 2012 - 7 months old

Well tomorrow the Baby is going to be 7 months old. I have just 5 months left of my leave and my baby boy is 5 months closer to his first birthday. I have many feelings about this milestone. First of all I have this panicky feeling that I missed some great things because I am so busy with all three kids! I also have this feeling of sadness knowing (and being realistically satisfied) that this is my last baby. I wish I had held him longer when he was littler. I also regret not having photos of me with him. I don't even have one of him right after he ws born. I don't know why 7 months old brings these feelings more than at 6 months. Maybe because it's the start of some very exciting things in his life. I know I am excited to see him crawl and walk and get teeth. But part of me hopes this won't happen too fast, I would like to have my baby for a little while longer!

April 29, 2012 - Getting Organized

Today we ran some errands.  The Baby has begun to be mobile!  Well, that is a little of a stretch - when he starts in a seated position, he can fall onto his belly and kind of wiggle around.  Needless to say, I need to be careful when he is on surfaces, like the bed!  Last night he was restless and wouldn't sleep in his crib, he ended up in bed with us, which meant that I was cold and uncomfortable for the entire night!

I have started to enjoy reading about organizing on the web, I love reading about other people's great ideas on keeping their home organized.  I have even started to implement some of those ideas in the home.

I have started to organize the kids dresser drawers by folding the clothing and placing it in short side up (http://www.simpleorganizedliving.com/2011/08/13/clothes-clutter-organizing-all-your-accessories/).  It works so well, I can fit twice as much clothing in the kids drawers this way...I'm not sure why though?

I started creating a binder to keep important items, it has turned out to be more like my real Pinterest board.  I print out recipes and other interesting ideas and put them in the binder.

I have also started to keep small items in clear shoebox sized plastic containers which I label.  This is helping alot with kitchen items that I don't use as often, and especially the kids toys!!  I think I have purchased 40 of those boxes so far, and I like to ensure that I keep a few on hand, for those moments when I need to put something in it's place.
