May 14, 2012 - Day Three - Character Breakfast

Today was our first full day in the house. We had a reservation for a character breakfast with the kids. Our breakfast was at the Grande Floridian Resort and Spa. We met Alice, Belle, Pooh, Tigger and Mary Poppins. We also talked to a lady in the gift shop about the pin lanyards and found out that the kids can trade pins with employees.

The Grand Floridian Resort was beautiful.  It is one of the most expensive hotels on the Disney Resort, rooms run from $400 to $1000 per night.  Once we walked up to the main entrance we could tell why.  It had a southern look to it, the decor contained wicker furniture and marble floors and decor.

In the afternoon we went to get some groceries. I was shocked at some of he prices and how much cheaper they are in the states. Gas is about $3.50 per gallon.  We also purchased 12 Corona's for $11 and two bottles of wine (2 litres) for $8 each.  This was all at Walmart!!

One thing I wish we had in Canada was beer and wine at regular stores, it is just so much more convienent and saves the extra trip to the beer store or LCBO.  However I did find out that the state of Florida does not have a system to return beer and wine bottles, they normally just put their bottles in the recycling bin.

When we got back to the house we all went for a swim.  The private pool in the yard was cool, but managable, and even the Baby enjoyed some time in the water.
