May 22, 2012 - Day 11 - Washington, DC

Today we visited Washington DC.  The roads to DC were very confusing, and the traffic was the heaviest we'd encountered during the entire vacation. Washington was the largest city by population that we visited, the population was about 562,000.  The landmarks sneak up on you as you approach DC.  We didn't see much until we were near the pentagon, then we started seeing the buildings, in the distance.

Once we crossed the Potomac River we were in the city, we drove around trying to get our bearings and figure out the streets while we tried to find parking close to the Lincoln Memorial.  We got lucky and packed up the stroller to go on a long walk around the tourist area of DC.   We visited the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, World War II Memorial, White House, Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial.  It was a lot of walking and the kids did really well.  Once we got back to the car, we drove to the other end of the Mall and looked at the Capital Building and had dinner.

The Husband wanted to have dinner at `Tune In`which was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  It was a bar, so getting the stroller in and out was quite a mission.  The food was alright, nothing special and according to the Husband, it was quite different then those featured on the show, which was a little disapointing.

Today`s photo of the Baby shows him standing in his stroller.  I guess the days of putting him in without the 5-point harness are over!  He got himself into this position all by himself!

After dinner, we went back to the hotel to put the kids to bed and pack up.
